Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expanded the reach of the “CM Maryam Nawaz Free Wi-Fi” initiative, now offering free internet access at over 230 locations across the province. The project aims to transform Punjab into a tech-driven hub, providing seamless internet access to all citizens.
The free Wi-Fi service is now available at 200 spots in Lahore, 10 in Kasur, 15 in Sheikhupura, and 5 in Nankana Sahib, with other major cities like Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Bahawalpur also included in the network.
Since its launch on June 16, the initiative has seen remarkable success. In its first three months, 7.7 million users accessed the service, consuming 111 terabytes of data. The average availability of the service across all locations is an impressive 98.7%.
An official from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), when speaking to the media, highlighted the broader impact of the project, noting that it enhances educational infrastructure and facilitates business and social interactions.
“We are turning Punjab into a digital province, and this free Wi-Fi initiative is a key step in that journey. Citizens are increasingly relying on the service to simplify and improve their daily lives,” the official said.
