All nine educational boards in Punjab have approved a new Digital Result Card System, a move that will shift examination records and related student services online. Once the system is fully implemented, the boards will stop issuing printed result cards altogether, allowing students to download and print their result cards directly from home rather than visiting board offices in person.
The Punjab boards plan to roll out the system in phases. In the first phase, students of Class 9 and First Year will receive digital result cards for their annual examination results, with the system later being extended to Class 10 and Second Year students in the second phase. Both regular and private candidates will be able to access their digital result cards online immediately after results are announced, with regular students retrieving their cards through their respective institution’s online portal, while private candidates will be able to download theirs directly from the relevant education board’s own portal.
Each digital result card will include a QR code along with additional security features, allowing educational institutions, employers, and other organisations to verify the authenticity of the document electronically. According to the boards, the digital result card will carry the same official status as the conventional printed document, meaning it will not be treated as a lesser or unofficial substitute for the physical version students have traditionally received.
Punjab boards have confirmed that the digital result cards will be recognised as official government documents, and students will be able to use them for college and university admissions, job applications, scholarships, equivalence certificates, and general verification purposes. As a result, students are expected to gain easier and faster access to their academic records, without the added burden of visiting board offices or waiting for printed copies to be issued, marking one of the leading steps toward paperless examination administration among provincial education boards in the country.
