Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has appointed Muhammad Amir Siddiqi as its Chief Financial Officer, with immediate effect, following approval by the company’s Board of Directors. Siddiqi is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with more than 30 years of professional experience in financial management, strategic planning, treasury, corporate governance, and business transformation. In his new role he will lead the company’s financial strategy and stewardship, with a focus on improving financial performance, optimising capital allocation, raising governance standards and operational efficiency, and supporting the strategic priorities of the company.

Siddiqi is not new to the organisation. He previously served as Group Executive Vice President for Financial Planning and Treasury at PTCL Group from 2013 to 2022, where he led financial planning, budgeting, funding, treasury operations, and performance management at group level. During that period he supported a spectrum acquisition and a telecom sector acquisition in Pakistan, helped in the launch of the wireless data and Flash Fiber broadband services, led group wide cost optimisation initiatives, and headed the integration of the finance functions of PTCL and Ufone. He later served as Head of Strategy and Transformation at PTCL Group, contributing to corporate strategy, growth planning, and transformation work, and his career also includes a period with Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates.

His career spans more than two decades in the telecommunications sector across Pakistan and international markets, as well as time at the professional services firms Ernst and Young and Deloitte. Since 2023 he has served as Chief Financial Officer of U Microfinance Bank, where he was involved in financial and operational transformation, and his work there is associated with a capital injection plan of approximately Pakistani Rupees 15 billion and annual operating cost savings of about Pakistani Rupees 2 billion, along with improved financial controls, regulatory compliance, and recovery capabilities. His wider expertise covers mergers and acquisitions, enterprise risk management, International Financial Reporting Standards, financial reporting, and governance at Board level.

The company said that Siddiqi’s understanding of PTCL Group, his international telecommunications experience, and his record in financial leadership and transformation position him well to support continued growth, strategic execution, and long term value creation. The appointment is significant for a company that has been working through a period of change, with the integration of Ufone, continued investment in fibre and fixed broadband, and plans to extend fibre connectivity to millions of homes all placing demands on capital planning and cost discipline. A finance chief who already knows the group’s structure and its recent integration work can be expected to move quickly on these priorities, and the announcement follows the recent appointment of Amad Khan as Chief Marketing Officer, which indicates that the company is building out its senior leadership team across finance and commercial functions.
