Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has appointed Amad Khan as its Chief Marketing Officer, following approval by the company’s Board of Directors. Khan brings more than two decades of experience across telecommunications, technology, and digital transformation, with a career that spans Pakistan, Australia, and the Middle East. In his new role he will lead the company’s marketing and customer growth agenda, which covers brand strategy, product positioning, customer experience, digital engagement, and go to market execution, with the aim of building a stronger market position and greater customer preference while supporting sustainable growth across the connectivity and digital services portfolio.
Khan is already familiar with the organisation. Since joining Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, he has held senior commercial leadership responsibilities across its wireline portfolio, which includes fibre broadband, voice, television, over the top services, and the Internet of Things. He has played a central part in advancing the company’s fibre strategy, which has contributed to its position as the leading fibre operator in Pakistan, while also driving revenue growth, improvements in customer experience, and digital transformation initiatives. Those responsibilities give him direct knowledge of the products that the marketing function will now be asked to position and grow, at a time when the company has set a goal of expanding fibre connectivity to millions of additional households.
Before joining the company, Khan held senior roles at Optus Australia, where he contributed to the fibre and fifth generation Fixed Wireless Access strategy and led product and technology transformation initiatives. His earlier career includes roles at Warid Telecom, Huawei, International Turnkey Systems, and Saudi Business Machines, which gave him exposure to telecom operations, product innovation, and technology led business change in several markets. His experience in Australia on fixed wireless access is of particular interest, since this category of home broadband delivered over mobile spectrum is now beginning to appear in Pakistan following the fifth generation spectrum auction, and it places new competitive pressure on fixed line operators. Khan holds a Master of Business Administration from Lahore University of Management Sciences, where he earned a place on the Dean’s Honors List, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences.
The company said the appointment comes as it continues to develop as an integrated technology and information and communications technology company, expanding high speed connectivity and building digital services to meet the changing needs of customers. It follows the appointment of Muhammad Amir Siddiqi as Chief Financial Officer, which was announced on the same day, and the two announcements together show a refresh of senior leadership across the finance and commercial functions. For Khan, the task will be to turn a strong network position in fibre into customer preference in a market that is becoming more crowded, with mobile operators now offering home broadband and bundled digital services of their own.
