The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has transferred and reassigned 10 senior officials across several key departments in an administrative reshuffle that has taken effect immediately. The changes were made through an office order issued with the approval of PTA Chairman and affect departments including consumer protection, international relations, information and communication technology, wireless licensing, enforcement, strategy and development, audit, human resources, finance and commercial affairs. The reshuffle involves several Director General-level positions and changes the responsibilities of officials overseeing major operational areas within the telecom regulator. The move comes as PTA continues to manage regulatory, licensing, enforcement and consumer-related functions across Pakistan’s telecommunications sector. Under the new arrangement, Ahmed Shamim Pirzada has been transferred from International Relations and General Administration to Consumer Protection, while Dr. Khurram Ali Mehran has moved from Consumer Protection to International Relations and General Administration. Ehsan Yar Khan has been appointed Director General Information and Communication Technology, replacing Nauman Khalid, who has been posted as Director General Wireless Licensing. Amer Shahzad has moved from Wireless Licensing to Enforcement, while Amjad Mustafa Malik has been transferred from Enforcement to Strategy and Development. These changes redistribute leadership across areas that are directly involved in telecom regulation, licensing, enforcement and administration. The new assignments are effective immediately according to the reports based on the PTA office order.
The reshuffle also includes changes in audit, human resources and licensing responsibilities. Yasir Yaqoob has been transferred from Human Resources and Coordination to the position of Director General Audit. Wasi Ullah Khan has been appointed Director General Human Resources and Coordination and will additionally hold the charge of Director General Licensing and Regulations under Regulation 50 of the PTA Employees Service Regulations, 2008. In the financial and commercial functions, Aadil Umer Khalil has been transferred from Commercial Affairs to Finance, while Tayyab Bin Tahir Khan has been appointed Director General Commercial Affairs and will also hold additional charge of Director General Administration. The changes therefore cover a broad range of PTA functions rather than being limited to a single department.
The latest transfers place new officials in several positions responsible for areas such as telecom licensing, enforcement, consumer protection, ICT, finance and administration.
