Jazz and Zong led different network performance measures in PTA’s Quality of Service survey for the second quarter of 2026, with Zong taking the top position in seven indicators and Jazz leading in six. The survey was conducted across 11 cities between April and June, assessing operators on 4G coverage, mobile broadband speeds and latency, web browsing, voice quality, and SMS services, giving a detailed comparative picture of network performance across the country’s major urban centres.
Jazz led specifically in 4G coverage and several mobile broadband measures, recording the highest auto mode download throughput in nine of the 11 surveyed cities and the highest third party application download throughput in eight cities. These results point to Jazz maintaining a stronger overall data performance profile across the majority of locations included in the survey, particularly in categories tied directly to internet browsing speed and app based data usage. Jazz also met the required standard for third party application latency in all 11 cities and achieved full compliance across all 55 Voice Quality of Service checks conducted as part of the survey, reflecting consistent performance across both data and voice categories.
Zong, meanwhile, secured the top position in seven of the measured indicators, suggesting a broader lead across other specific performance categories not dominated by Jazz’s data throughput results. Although the article did not detail every individual indicator Zong led, its seven category wins compared to Jazz’s six indicate a fairly evenly split competitive landscape between the two operators when measured across the full range of metrics PTA tracked during the survey period. For SMS services specifically, Jazz and Zong jointly ranked first after both operators met all 22 key performance indicator requirements tied to messaging service quality, showing parity between the two networks in this particular category.
The PTA assessment covered a wide geographic spread, including Peshawar, Abbottabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Quetta, Hub, Sukkur, and Karachi West, giving the survey results relevance across cities in different provinces rather than concentrating solely on Pakistan’s largest metropolitan centres. This broad coverage allows the survey to reflect network performance in a mix of major cities and comparatively smaller urban centres, offering a more complete picture of how each operator performs across varying levels of infrastructure density and population size.
The survey adds to PTA’s ongoing programme of periodic Quality of Service assessments, which the regulator uses to monitor and compare network performance among Pakistan’s major telecom operators on a recurring basis. With Jazz and Zong splitting the top rankings across different categories in this latest quarterly assessment, the results suggest continued close competition between the two operators as they work to strengthen their respective network infrastructure and service quality across the country’s expanding mobile broadband and voice communication landscape.
