Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued the final notification regarding amendments to the Information Memorandum for the upcoming NGMS 5G Spectrum Auction, following the completion of a stakeholder consultation process. The notification, released on 13th February 2026, outlines revisions to the framework governing the Next Generation Mobile Services auction scheduled this year. The development marks a key regulatory step as Pakistan advances preparations for commercial 5G spectrum allocation.

According to the official statement issued from Islamabad on 14th February 2026, the amendments incorporate feedback gathered during consultations with industry stakeholders. The updated Information Memorandum provides clarity on licensing terms, auction procedures, and compliance requirements for participating telecom operators. NGMS spectrum auctions are critical to enabling next generation connectivity, expanding broadband coverage, and supporting digital services across sectors including enterprise, fintech, e commerce, and public service delivery. The revised document is expected to guide prospective applicants in evaluating spectrum blocks, financial commitments, and rollout obligations linked to the 5G framework.

In addition to issuing the amendments, PTA has announced that it will hold an Information Session for prospective applicants on 16th February 2026. The session is intended to brief interested operators and relevant stakeholders on the updated provisions and procedural aspects of the auction. Such sessions typically provide an opportunity for clarifications related to eligibility criteria, spectrum caps, payment structures, and regulatory compliance standards. The move signals continued engagement between the regulator and market participants as Pakistan moves toward introducing commercial 5G services.

For further details, PTA has directed stakeholders to access the full notification available on its official website at https://www.pta.gov.pk/assets/media/2026-02-13-1-Notification-of-changes-in-IM-Including-License-Template-for-NGMS-5G-Spectrum-Auction-in-Pakistan.pdf. The NGMS 5G auction is viewed as an important milestone for Pakistan’s telecom ecosystem, with expectations that enhanced spectrum allocation will support improved mobile broadband quality, higher data speeds, and new digital use cases aligned with national connectivity goals.
