Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has commenced the issuance of Class Licenses to facilitate the provision of internet services at the district level across Pakistan. This initiative aims to encourage local entrepreneurship and expand broadband penetration by allowing service providers in various districts to legally offer internet services. By enabling this framework, PTA supports growth in connectivity beyond major cities, fostering improved access to digital services nationwide.

The Class License is issued for a period of ten years. Applicants must pay a one-time Initial License Fee of Rs. 300,000 along with an Annual License Fee (ALF) of Rs. 100,000 for the first year before the license becomes effective. For the subsequent years, the ALF will be payable in advance and will increase annually by 10 percent. This fee structure is designed to maintain the licensing system’s sustainability while encouraging participation from new internet service providers at the district level.

Applicants are advised to submit their applications online through PTA’s portal. The license template and checklist required for submission are available on PTA’s official website, providing clarity and ease throughout the application process. This online method reflects PTA’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in regulating internet services across Pakistan.

PTA emphasized its dedication to promoting digital inclusion, strengthening broadband infrastructure, and supporting the overall development of the telecommunications sector. By expanding access to internet services in districts, this licensing initiative will help bring improved connectivity, access to information, and digital opportunities to underserved areas, contributing to the country’s growing digital economy.
