PTA is taking a significant step towards sustainability with a nationwide solar power initiative.
The ambitious project aims to equip all PTA buildings across the country with solar panel systems, dramatically reducing reliance on conventional electricity and promoting clean energy.
Solar panels will be installed on the PTA headquarters in Islamabad, hostels, and zonal offices in major cities like Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Karachi. These systems will range from 20.5 KW to 150 KW capacity, generating a substantial amount of clean electricity to power PTA operations.
“This initiative is driven by a dual purpose: cost reduction and environmental responsibility,” said PTA officials. Rising electricity costs will be significantly mitigated through solar power, leading to lower electricity bills for the PTA. Additionally, generating clean energy helps reduce Pakistan’s carbon footprint and contributes to a more sustainable future.
The project aligns perfectly with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s vision of transitioning all government buildings to solar power. The PTA is spearheading this initiative, setting a precedent for other public institutions to embrace renewable energy sources.
Currently in the bidding phase, the PTA has invited qualified solar energy firms to submit proposals for design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of net-metering-based solar PV systems. This comprehensive approach ensures a smooth transition to solar power for all PTA facilities.
This move towards renewable energy demonstrates the PTA’s commitment to environmental responsibility and cost-effective operations, while setting a positive example for Pakistan’s public sector.
