The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Karachi, in a joint operation with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle Karachi, has successfully dismantled an illegal operation involving the sale of mobile boosters and amplifiers.

The raid, conducted in response to complaints from citizens regarding poor mobile network coverage, resulted in the seizure of 25 mobile booster sets and one laptop. The confiscated devices were found to be operating without proper authorization, interfering with the licensed spectrum of cellular mobile operators (CMOs) and negatively impacting the quality of service (QoS) experienced by consumers.

The FIA has initiated an inquiry into the matter to determine the extent of the illegal operation and to take appropriate legal action against those involved.

The PTA has repeatedly warned consumers against using illegal mobile boosters and amplifiers, as they can cause interference with cellular networks and disrupt services for other users. The authority has emphasized the importance of using only PTA-approved devices to ensure optimal network performance and avoid potential legal consequences.

To assist consumers in identifying authorized devices, the PTA has published a list of approved mobile boosters and amplifiers on its official website. By using only certified devices, consumers can help maintain the integrity of the telecommunications network and ensure a seamless mobile experience.

The PTA’s crackdown on illegal mobile boosters highlights its commitment to protecting consumer rights and ensuring the quality of telecommunication services in Pakistan. By taking decisive action against such illegal activities, the authority aims to create a fair and equitable digital ecosystem for all.
