PTA Zonal Office Peshawar, in collaboration with FIA Cyber Crime Wing Peshawar, has successfully conducted raids against telecom franchisees involved in illegal SIM issuance.

The raids, conducted in Barakahu, Islamabad, and Shinkiari, District Mansehra, were aimed at curbing the practice of obtaining fingerprints from underprivileged women in Orakzai Agency to fraudulently issue SIM cards.

During the operations, authorities seized multiple BVS devices, activated SIMs, suspected SIMs, computers, mobile phones, and original CNICs. Several arrests were made, and FIRs were registered against the individuals involved.

PTA had previously filed complaints with FIA regarding these illegal activities, leading to the joint investigation and subsequent raids.

The successful crackdown on these illegal operations highlights the commitment of PTA and FIA to ensuring the security and integrity of Pakistan’s telecommunication sector.
