Press Release: Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology (PINSAT) Preston University organized a Condolence Reference in memory of nuclear scientist of international eminence late Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed. The referenced event was held at the Islamabad campus of Preston University. Eminent among the speakers who spoke on the occasion and paid glowing tribute to late Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed, former Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) were: Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, founding Chairman NESCOM, Dr. Amir Muhammad, founding Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and Dr. Hafeez Hoorani, Director General National Center for Physics (NCP).
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, founding Chairman NESCOM said late Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed was an invaluable asset of the country. He was an unparalleled scientist of Pakistan and a person of unmatchable values and principles. Dr. Samar Mubarakmand said Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed played a key role in the atomic explosion of 1998, and due to his untiring and dedicated endeavors Pakistan emerged as a nuclear power in the region.
Addressing the disguised gathering Dr. Amir Muhammad, former founding Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) said Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed was a brilliant nuclear scientist, and he enjoyed an impeccable reputation in the comity of world renowned scientists. His services towards building Pakistan’s nuclear prowess will be remembered for a long time to come.
While highlighting Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed’s mammoth contribution towards making Pakistan a nuclear power and making the country’s security impregnable Dr. Inam ur Rehman, founding Rector PIEAS and Dr. Hafeez Hoorani, Director General, National Center for Physics (NCP) Islamabad said, late Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed was an iconic scientist whose brilliance was recognized with a sense of profound regard both at home and abroad. They said icons like Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed are a rare breed. They are born in centuries and are remembered by the people with a sense of pride and respect for all times to come.

Earlier, in his welcome address Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University expressed his profound gratitude to the distinguished speakers for sparing their valuable time to participate and speak at the Reference organized by the university in memory of late Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed, an eminent nuclear scientist of Pakistan and former Chairman of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC). He also warmly welcomed the distinguished guests to the event. Dr. Basit said it was truly a matter of immense pleasure and honor for PINSAT-Preston University to organize a Reference to remember a personality of international stature like Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed, former Chairman PAEC. He said late Ishfaq Ahmed’s contribution towards development of Pakistan’s nuclear program has been phenomenal. The nation owes its gratitude to him for playing a pivotal role in making Pakistan a nuclear power and enhancing its image in the comity of venerable and recognized nuclear powers of the world.
Dr. N. M. Butt, Chairman PINSAT-Preston University presented the vote of thanks. He thanked the chief guest and all the other distinguished speakers for sparing their precious time and gracing the occasion by their venerable presence. Paying glowing tribute to Dr. Ishfaq Ahmed, he said the vacuum that his death has created will take a long time to fill. The Pakistani nation will remain ever- indebted to him for his unparalleled contribution towards Pakistan’s nuclear program, he emphasized.
