The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has launched a fully digitized registration and management system for all medical examinations in the country, marking a major step toward transparency, efficiency, and automation within Pakistan’s healthcare regulatory framework. The new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)-based platform eliminates manual procedures by offering complete online services for registration, licensing, and exam management. Applicants can now complete registrations from home, monitor real-time updates on their applications, and receive automated approvals, significantly cutting down delays and reducing the likelihood of clerical errors that were common under the previous manual setup.

Under the digital transformation initiative, the National Registration Examination (NRE), National Equivalence Board (NEB) assessments, and Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) have all been fully integrated into the new digital ecosystem. PMDC officials highlighted that the system will directly benefit hundreds of thousands of candidates each year by minimizing travel, reducing administrative costs, and ensuring faster, more accurate service delivery. The platform also supports data integrity through its centralized management features, which link registration, licensing, human resources, and public facilitation modules within one unified database. By consolidating these functions, PMDC aims to create a seamless digital environment where efficiency and accountability become the foundation of its operations.

In addition to the digital overhaul, PMDC has introduced a structured performance evaluation framework to ensure organizational discipline and service quality. This includes regular monthly and annual performance reviews, confidential reporting systems, and merit-based reward mechanisms for staff. According to PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, the restructuring represents a “new era of transparency and institutional excellence,” emphasizing that the council has strengthened its governance through clear job roles, financial accountability, and streamlined workflows. Dr. Taj said the reorganization has filled key vacancies and established stronger internal systems that promote accountability and compliance while improving overall service delivery for medical professionals and candidates alike.

To ensure the sustainability of this transformation, PMDC has launched capacity-building programs aimed at enhancing staff expertise and operational efficiency. These include specialized workshops and professional development initiatives focused on technical, managerial, and leadership skills. Furthermore, to increase accessibility and facilitate in-person support, PMDC has opened regional facilitation centers in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gilgit-Baltistan. These centers will provide direct assistance for licensing, registration, and public inquiries, ensuring equal access to PMDC services across all provinces. Through this comprehensive digital initiative, PMDC seeks to establish a transparent, efficient, and technology-driven framework that aligns with Pakistan’s broader vision of digital governance under the Digital Pakistan agenda.
