Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart for a two-day official visit to Doha on Monday, where he will hold high-level engagements with Qatar’s leadership, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office. The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations across multiple sectors.
During the visit, the prime minister will hold a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss the full spectrum of cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar. The agenda includes political engagement, economic collaboration, energy partnership, and people-to-people exchanges. Officials said both sides will also explore new avenues of cooperation in trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development, and manpower export. The discussions are expected to build on existing economic ties while identifying fresh opportunities for collaboration that align with both countries’ development priorities. The visit comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking to expand foreign investment partnerships and deepen engagement with Gulf economies across strategic sectors.
Foreign Office highlighted that Pakistan and Qatar share a longstanding partnership characterized by mutual trust and close coordination at regional and international forums. The leadership on both sides is also expected to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. The discussions will include perspectives on peace, stability, and prosperity in the broader region, reflecting ongoing diplomatic coordination between Islamabad and Doha. Officials noted that the visit underscores the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two countries and reaffirms their shared commitment to enhancing multifaceted cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other federal ministers and senior officials, signaling the importance Islamabad attaches to the engagement.
Pakistan and Qatar maintain strong diplomatic and economic relations, rooted in shared faith, cultural affinity, and longstanding cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Doha twice in September 2025. His first visit was aimed at expressing solidarity with Qatar following Israeli attacks on the country, while the second was to attend a joint summit of the Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. On both occasions, he held meetings with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support and solidarity with the Gulf state. The upcoming visit builds on that continued engagement and is expected to further consolidate bilateral ties through dialogue at the highest level.
