Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced serious concern over the low adoption rates of the E-Office system within the Federal Secretariat, noting that several Ministries and Divisions report nearly zero percent utilization despite repeated directives.
In response, the Prime Minister has mandated that all Ministries and Divisions transition from manual filing to the E-Office system without delay. Ministries that have only partially implemented the platform are instructed to expand its usage across all departments.
To ensure compliance and monitor progress, the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication, along with the National Information Technology Board (NITB), will compile and submit a detailed report on E-Office utilization across Ministries and Divisions for the next month.
The E-Office system, available to federal ministries, divisions, and departments since 2007, saw a significant upgrade last year with the introduction of a new web version. This updated version includes advanced features such as digital signatures, voice-based input, Urdu language support, and an executive dashboard for senior management.
