Pakistan School on Internet Governance (pkSIG) 2025 has officially been announced, creating a national platform where diverse voices and perspectives will converge to shape the country’s digital future. This annual event provides an environment where critical debates on internet governance take place, policies are explored, and strategic ideas are exchanged among stakeholders from across the digital ecosystem.

The program aims to address some of the most pressing questions in the digital policy landscape, such as who controls the internet, how privacy and freedom can be safeguarded while promoting innovation, and what strategic role Pakistan should play in the evolving global internet governance discourse. These discussions are vital for building a framework that supports both the rights of users and the sustainable growth of the internet in the country.

pkSIG attracts a diverse mix of participants, including technology policymakers, researchers, activists, industry leaders, students, and startup founders. This range of perspectives ensures that the dialogue is inclusive and reflects the needs and ambitions of various segments of society. It serves as a space where academic knowledge meets practical experience, enabling participants to learn from real-world case studies and international best practices.

The event also plays an important role in building the capacity of future digital leaders in Pakistan. By exposing participants to global debates and the workings of international internet governance bodies, pkSIG helps equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to actively contribute to shaping policy both locally and internationally. This makes it particularly valuable for young professionals and students aspiring to work in technology policy, digital rights, or related fields.

Registrations for pkSIG 2025 are now open, and interested individuals are encouraged to secure their participation early. The program also offers fellowships for selected candidates, enabling wider participation from individuals who may not otherwise have access to such opportunities. Applicants for fellowships must submit their applications before August 31, 2025.

With internet governance becoming increasingly complex and intertwined with issues of national sovereignty, economic growth, and human rights, pkSIG 2025 is expected to serve as a timely and impactful forum. It offers a rare opportunity for cross-sector dialogue in Pakistan, where industry professionals, policymakers, academics, and civil society representatives can work together towards developing a shared vision for the nation’s internet future.
