Registration for the third cohort of the Chief Minister IT Internship Program (CMITIP) is closing soon, with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) urging eligible IT companies to complete their registration and become part of the initiative. The programme is a flagship initiative of the Government of Punjab aimed at creating stronger connections between IT companies and fresh graduates by providing young professionals with opportunities to gain practical industry experience. Through the programme, companies can gain access to a structured pool of emerging technical talent while graduates get an opportunity to develop their skills through workplace-based training and professional exposure.
Interested IT companies can register to onboard graduates from IT and computer science backgrounds through the CM IT Internship Program. Partner companies participating in the initiative are offered several benefits, including access to pre-screened young talent who can be placed according to their organizational requirements. Companies also receive monthly financial support of Rs. 12,500 per intern, helping reduce the cost associated with hiring and training fresh graduates. The programme also gives participating organizations an opportunity to train interns according to their specific operational requirements, allowing them to introduce young professionals to their workflows, technologies, and organizational practices from an early stage.
The initiative can also provide companies with an opportunity to identify and develop potential future employees. By working with fresh graduates during the internship period, organizations can assess their technical abilities, communication skills, adaptability, and overall professional performance in a practical environment. This approach allows participating companies to develop young talent based on their own business requirements while reducing the financial burden normally associated with entry-level recruitment and training. To participate in the programme, companies are required to meet specific eligibility criteria. Organizations must be registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) or the relevant regulatory authority and must maintain a functional office within Punjab. Companies are also required to have appropriate office infrastructure and provide a professional working environment for interns. These requirements are intended to ensure that participating graduates are placed with credible organizations that can offer suitable facilities, professional supervision, and meaningful training opportunities throughout their internship.
