Pakistan Digital Authority Chairperson Dr. Sohail Munir visited the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan for a meeting with Chairperson Mr. Akif Saeed and senior members of the Commission. The engagement aimed to reinforce coordination between the two institutions as both continue to support the country’s wider digitalization agenda and improve the technology foundation of public services.
During the meeting, Mr. Akif Saeed provided an overview of SECP’s ongoing digital shift under its Leap Project. He explained that SECP has been prioritizing a complete digital transition of company registration processes to simplify procedures for entrepreneurs and improve the overall ease of doing business in Pakistan. The transformation also includes enhanced user journeys, better access to online services and increased transparency in regulatory procedures. This focus is intended to make corporate compliance more efficient while reducing reliance on physical paperwork, delays or manual interactions that historically slowed down business onboarding. According to Mr. Saeed, digital company registration has already shown measurable progress in improving service timelines, enabling users to complete procedures more reliably through online channels.
Dr. Sohail Munir shared a detailed summary of PDA’s core mandate, particularly its responsibility to lead, support and streamline digital transformation initiatives at the national level. He highlighted that Pakistan’s digital ecosystem is evolving steadily, supported by both public and private stakeholders, and PDA’s role is to accelerate this momentum through stronger coordination between institutions. Dr. Munir also appreciated SECP’s proactive participation in national digital efforts and its willingness to adopt modern systems that align with the broader objectives of Digital Pakistan. He emphasized that improved interoperability among government institutions is essential for delivering citizen services that are faster, more secure and easier to access.
The meeting also included conversations on possible areas of joint action, including data-driven regulatory frameworks, integrated digital platforms and improved mechanisms for information exchange between PDA and SECP. Both sides discussed how closer collaboration could support the expansion of digital business services, encourage the adoption of new technology tools and increase the effectiveness of governance models that rely on digital infrastructure. Participants underscored the value of synchronized digital policies that reduce duplication and support seamless service delivery, especially for entrepreneurs and companies that regularly interact with multiple government entities.
Both organizations agreed to continue engagements and schedule follow-up sessions to explore specific areas where their efforts can be combined for higher impact. The commitment reflects a shared goal of enhancing Pakistan’s digital readiness and ensuring that government-led transformation is supported by strong institutional partnerships. Through continued collaboration, PDA and SECP aim to create an environment where technology-driven reforms can thrive and contribute meaningfully to economic activity and business growth in the country.
