PASHA’s Startups and Entrepreneurship Committee is hosting a free online webinar titled “IP, Copyright, and Patents: A Guide for Tech Founders” on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM PKT, inviting founders, innovators, startup teams, and technology professionals to join a focused session on protecting innovation through intellectual property frameworks.

The webinar will be led by Dr. Saima Kanwal, Assistant Controller of Patents at the Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan, who brings direct expertise in patent examination, patent drafting, patent search, and intellectual property analysis. Participants will gain practical insights into protecting products, software, digital assets, and innovative ideas, alongside guidance on understanding patent filing basics and the common mistakes that founders and early-stage companies make when approaching intellectual property for the first time.

For Pakistan’s technology startup community, understanding intellectual property rights, copyright protections, and the patent filing process is increasingly critical as founders build products with global ambitions and seek investment from partners who scrutinise intellectual property ownership as part of due diligence. The session offers direct access to an expert from IPO Pakistan in a format that is free, online, and targeted specifically at the practical needs of tech founders rather than legal professionals. Registration closes on May 17, 2026, and interested participants can sign up at https://lnkd.in/eBt6q8D.

Follow the SPIN IDG WhatsApp Channel for updates across the Smart Pakistan Insights Network covering all of Pakistan’s technology ecosystem.

CWPK Legacy
Launched in 1967 internationally, ComputerWorld is the oldest tech magazine/media property in the world. In Pakistan, ComputerWorld was launched in 1995. Initially providing news to IT executives only, once CIO Pakistan, its sister brand from the same family, was launched and took over the enterprise reporting domain in Pakistan, CWPK has emerged as a holistic technology media platform reporting everything tech in the country. It remains the oldest continuous IT publishing brand in the country and in 2025 is set to turn 30 years old, which will be its biggest benchmark and a legacy it hopes to continue for years to come. CWPK is part of the SPIN/IDG Wakhan media umbrella.
