Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has praised the launch of a new mobile application aimed at improving agricultural productivity and food security.
The “Cropwise Grower” app, developed by Syngenta Pakistan, is a free service offering farmers features like instant disease and pest detection, crop management advice, and e-commerce functionality.
Khawaja highlighted the importance of agritech in enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural sector and ensuring food security. She emphasized the government’s commitment to digitalization and creating policies that benefit farmers and stakeholders.
The Cropwise Grower app utilizes AI-powered diagnostics to identify crop problems and recommend solutions. It also provides farmers with access to online product ordering, localized weather information, and educational resources.
Syngenta Pakistan’s General Manager, Zeeshan Baig, sees the app as a way to strengthen the company’s connection with farmers and empower them to be more self-sufficient.
This collaboration between the government and private sector demonstrates Pakistan’s focus on leveraging technology to address food security challenges.
