Pakistan has been urged to strategically adopt Artificial Intelligence to drive national development, modernize the information ecosystem, and strengthen governance mechanisms, according to a press release issued following the AI X Future Summit 2025. The event, hosted at Bahria University, brought together educators, policymakers, media professionals, and students, highlighting the growing importance of AI as a tool for institutional and economic progress in the country. Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry delivered the keynote address as Chief Guest, emphasizing that AI is no longer a distant or theoretical concept but a defining technology with the potential to transform multiple sectors in Pakistan.

Addressing attendees, Chaudhry highlighted that the government, under the National Economic Transformation Plan Uraan Pakistan 2024–2029, is prioritizing digital innovation and technology-driven governance as core pillars for sustainable development. He noted that AI can significantly enhance transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity in public institutions, particularly in areas related to information dissemination, media regulation, and citizen engagement. By integrating AI responsibly, he argued, Pakistan can strengthen public service delivery, improve decision-making processes, and create a more data-driven governance framework that responds effectively to the needs of citizens.

Chaudhry also discussed the evolving role of media in the era of AI, stressing that technological adoption presents both opportunities and responsibilities. While AI has the potential to assist in combating misinformation, streamlining content verification, and building public trust, it also requires strong ethical frameworks and regulatory oversight. He underscored the importance of collaboration across sectors, including government, private technology firms, educational institutions, and media organizations, to ensure AI applications are safe, responsible, and aligned with national priorities. According to the Parliamentary Secretary, careful deployment of AI tools can help establish a more transparent media environment while safeguarding citizens against misuse or algorithmic biases.

Highlighting practical implications, Chaudhry mentioned that AI technologies could support the automation of routine administrative tasks, enhance analysis of large-scale datasets, and improve public access to accurate information. Educational institutions and media organizations are encouraged to integrate AI literacy programs to build local capacity and expertise, ensuring that Pakistan is prepared to leverage AI effectively for socio-economic growth. He emphasized that AI adoption is not merely a technological upgrade but a strategic move that can redefine governance, enhance service delivery, and position Pakistan as a competitive participant in the global digital economy.

The AI X Future Summit 2025 provided a platform to explore these themes in detail, fostering dialogue among stakeholders and emphasizing the need for a coordinated approach to AI policy, ethical standards, and implementation strategies. By promoting strategic adoption of AI, Pakistan aims to harness the technology’s transformative potential, ensuring it benefits both public institutions and citizens while supporting sustainable development objectives and national modernization efforts.
