A delegation from the Pakistan Navy School of Logistics visited the Punjab Information Technology Board as part of a structured study visit for under-training Supply Branch Officers of Sub-Lieutenant rank, aimed at exposing the officers to the Punjab government’s information and communication technology interventions in digitalisation and e-Governance.
The delegation comprised 10 Pakistan Navy Supply Branch Officers and two Staff Officers, with the visit specifically designed to acquaint the under-training officers with how technology-driven solutions are being deployed across the Punjab government to improve public administration and service delivery. PITB IT-Solutions Director Rana Abid Mehmood briefed the delegation on the technology-driven initiatives implemented across Punjab, including projects that have since been replicated in other provinces beyond Punjab, giving the visiting officers a sense of the broader national influence that Punjab’s digital governance model has had on similar efforts elsewhere in the country. PITB Additional Director General Admin Zulfiqar Ali Shaheen was also present during the briefing session.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the e-Khidmat Markaz established near Arfa Software Technology Park, where PITB Director Haroon Rasul Khokhar provided an overview of the citizen-centric services delivered through the facility. The e-Khidmat Markaz model, which consolidates multiple government services into a single physical access point supported by digital backend systems, has become one of the more visible examples of how Punjab has translated its broader digital governance strategy into tangible, accessible services for ordinary citizens.
The core purpose of the visit was to give the officers direct exposure to field-level government activities and demonstrate how information technology is transforming public service delivery in practice rather than purely through policy documentation or theoretical instruction. For a Navy training programme focused on logistics and supply chain management, exposure to PITB’s digital infrastructure and citizen service models offers officers a practical reference point for how technology-enabled systems can improve operational efficiency, transparency, and resource management, principles that carry direct relevance to military logistics functions even though the visit centred on civilian government applications.
