In a significant move to bolster Pakistan’s digital landscape, the Ministry of IT and Telecom, in collaboration with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), has unveiled plans to establish a nationwide network of “E-Rozgaar Centers.” This initiative aims to revolutionize the country’s freelance and startup ecosystem by providing crucial resources and support to budding entrepreneurs across all districts.

The e-Rozgaar Centers will be strategically distributed throughout Pakistan, ensuring equitable access to digital opportunities. The number of centers in each province will be based on population density and existing freelance data. Punjab will lead the way with 149 centers, followed by Sindh (51) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (28). Islamabad, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will also receive a significant number of centers, ensuring all regions benefit from the program.

The selection process for e-Rozgaar centers will be conducted transparently. The Ministry and PSEB will issue Expression of Interest (EoI) notices through various channels, including local newspapers, government platforms, PSEB’s official websites, and social media networks. Upon receiving applications, a dedicated committee will meticulously evaluate potential locations to ensure suitability for conversion into e-Rozgaar Centers.

The program leverages a strategic public-private partnership model. Once buildings are shortlisted, the respective owners will have the opportunity to apply for interest-free loans facilitated by PSEB. These loans will cover the expenses associated with setting up the e-Rozgaar Centers.

The e-Rozgaar Centers go beyond offering physical workspaces. The program is designed to provide comprehensive support for freelancers and startups. This includes dedicated workspaces for a professional working environment, access to interest-free loans of up to Rs. 10 million to fuel business growth, and free training programs to equip participants with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital marketplace. Additionally, the program will offer marketing support to help businesses reach new clients and expand their reach.

With this all-encompassing approach, the E-Rozgaar Centers are poised to become hubs of innovation and entrepreneurship across Pakistan. By empowering freelancers and startups throughout the country, the program has the potential to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s digital economy and drive national economic growth and prosperity.
