Pakistan has launched AsiaONE, its first English-language news channel, in a strategic move to reach global audiences and counter what officials describe as the growing scale of Indian disinformation on the international stage. Positioned as a platform for fact-based narratives, AsiaONE aims to present Pakistan’s perspective to viewers across continents through broadcast and digital mediums. The channel is accessible via multiple platforms, including its official YouTube channel, ensuring that audiences worldwide can tune in at their convenience.

By opting for English as the primary language, Pakistan is aiming to go beyond its domestic audience and communicate directly with international policymakers, journalists, researchers, and the global public. The channel’s launch reflects a broader effort to enhance the country’s media presence in a competitive global information landscape where narratives often shape diplomatic and economic outcomes. AsiaONE is expected to cover a broad range of topics, including political developments, economic trends, technological advancements, cultural stories, and regional affairs, allowing global viewers to gain deeper insight into Pakistan’s position on critical issues.

The initiative is also part of a growing trend in which countries invest in international broadcasting to strengthen public diplomacy. For Pakistan, AsiaONE represents both an opportunity and a challenge — an opportunity to showcase national achievements, promote tourism and investment, and connect with the Pakistani diaspora, and a challenge to consistently produce content that meets international journalism standards while competing with well-established global news outlets. Media analysts note that in the era of digital streaming and on-demand news, AsiaONE’s multi-platform presence could help it quickly build a loyal viewership abroad.

AsiaONE’s emphasis on digital integration, particularly through social media engagement and video-on-demand accessibility, is expected to play a key role in attracting younger, tech-savvy viewers. The channel’s success will depend on its ability to maintain credibility, respond to breaking events with timely coverage, and offer in-depth reporting that can stand up to scrutiny from international audiences. For Pakistan, the launch signals a commitment to telling its own story, on its own terms, to the world.
