The Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance (PICG), in collaboration with Virtuous Group, is holding an “AI for the Boardroom” workshop on October 19, 2026, running from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM online. The programme frames artificial intelligence as simultaneously the single most important opportunity and the greatest risk facing businesses today, positioning the workshop as a way for boards and senior leadership to explore both dimensions with expert guidance rather than treating AI purely as a technical implementation challenge. The session will be led by Arjumand Minai, an experienced CEO with a background spanning finance, IT, and corporate governance, and Husnain Badami, an AI strategy and governance advisor, giving participants exposure to both traditional governance expertise and more specialized AI-focused perspectives.
Participants attending the workshop will cover five core areas: AI governance and ethics, understanding responsible AI strategy, designing responsible AI systems, key requirements of ISO/IEC 42001, and managing AI risks and organizational resilience. The inclusion of ISO/IEC 42001, the international standard specifically covering AI management systems, gives the workshop a concrete technical anchor point rather than relying solely on abstract governance principles, addressing a growing need among Pakistani boards to understand internationally recognized frameworks as AI adoption accelerates across industries. PICG describes the content as boardroom-grade, curated from more than 20 years of global governance experience, distinguishing the programme from more general AI literacy or technical training sessions aimed at practitioners rather than board-level decision makers.
The workshop targets a specific audience spanning board and board audit, IT, and risk committee members, risk managers, auditors, and advisors, business and HR managers and process leads, and entrepreneurs driving digital transformation within their organizations. This breadth of intended participants reflects PICG’s positioning of AI governance as relevant across multiple organizational functions rather than confined to a single department, extending beyond just board members into the risk, HR, and operational roles that would need to implement whatever governance frameworks a board ultimately approves. Participants completing the workshop will also receive PICG certification, a credential the institute says is recognized across Pakistan’s corporate sector, adding a formal qualification component to what would otherwise be a purely informational session.
Workshop fees are set at PKR 55,000 for non-members and PKR 45,000 for PICG members, exclusive of applicable taxes, with registration available through PICG’s official website. Interested participants can also reach out directly via email or contact PICG representatives Talha bin Hamid and Imran Rana for further information about the programme. The workshop adds to PICG’s broader portfolio of governance training offerings, which has historically centered on its Corporate Governance Leadership Skills programme developed with the International Finance Corporation, extending that established governance training model into the specific domain of AI oversight as Pakistani boards increasingly grapple with how to supervise AI adoption within their own organizations.
