Ministry of IT & Telecom recently brought together an influential group of leaders, policymakers, regulators, development practitioners, and innovators for a Strategic Roundtable on Pakistan’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). The session, held on September 19, 2025, served as an important step in advancing a unified national approach to DPI. Participants shared a collective vision for a digitally empowered Pakistan where citizens enjoy seamless interactions, businesses operate in a frictionless environment, and government services are proactive and citizen-centric. The meeting underscored the role of DPI as a cornerstone for an inclusive digital economy, with stakeholders exploring how such infrastructure can transform service delivery and support the private sector.

The roundtable focused on laying a foundation for Pakistan’s DPI, recognising that a coherent framework could enable digital inclusion, strengthen governance, and open new opportunities for businesses. Participants discussed how a whole-of-government approach could streamline integration across federal and provincial levels. They emphasised that creating impact requires transparency and cooperation, making open dialogue an essential step in aligning on national priorities. This spirit of collaboration was evident throughout the event as contributors examined ways to embed continuous innovation and feedback into the development of DPI.

Discussions at the event also highlighted the importance of co-creation between government, private sector, and development partners. Rather than limiting itself to formal presentations, the roundtable fostered interactive engagement and encouraged participants to offer practical solutions for shaping Pakistan’s DPI. Attendees agreed on the need for clear policy direction and coordinated efforts to ensure that digital infrastructure serves as a catalyst for economic growth, improved service delivery, and enhanced citizen trust. They stressed that the success of DPI hinges on shared ownership and regular consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key objectives outlined during the roundtable included aligning on Pakistan’s DPI roadmap and national priorities, establishing mechanisms for seamless integration across various government entities, and defining a framework for continuous stakeholder engagement. Participants thanked the Ministry of IT & Telecom for convening the dialogue and acknowledged the contributions of all involved. By drawing on expertise from multiple sectors, the roundtable sought to create a sustainable pathway for Pakistan’s digital transformation, underscoring the country’s commitment to building infrastructure that can support inclusive growth and innovation at scale.
