The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has officially designated 2024 as the IT Year, marking a strategic move to propel the engineering community into a future dominated by innovation and digital transformation.

Engr Najeeb Haroon, Chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council, conveyed his enthusiasm for embracing a technological revolution set to redefine possibilities and establish a digitally-driven landscape within the engineering sector. His message emphasized bidding farewell to manual processes involving paper trails and heralding an era of smart, digitally transformed solutions.

Under Chairman Haroon’s leadership, the slogan for the IT Year has been unveiled as “Innovate, Digitize, and Transform.” This rallying cry is designed to inspire engineers to harness the power of technology and leverage digital advancements, positioning PEC at the forefront of global innovation.

Expressing confidence in the engineering community’s adaptability, Chairman Najeeb Haroon reassured skeptics that PEC is steadfast in providing the necessary support, resources, and training to facilitate a seamless transition into the digital landscape.

Proactive discussions and initiatives within the engineering sector are already underway, with prominent voices exploring projects aligned with the objectives of the IT Year. Collaborative efforts involving academia, industry, and the government are anticipated to play a pivotal role in realizing the ambitious goals set for 2024.

As PEC assumes a leadership role in digital transformation, the engineering community faces a critical juncture, balancing excitement for the future with a measured approach to potential challenges. The IT Year, centered on innovation, digitization, and transformation, is poised to reshape the engineering landscape in Pakistan, contributing significantly to global advancements in the field.
