Pakistan Digital Authority has announced the appointment of Ahmad Akram as Director, People and Culture, bringing on board an executive with more than fifteen years of human resources leadership experience across the United Kingdom and the wider Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The appointment reflects the Authority’s continued effort to build out its internal leadership structure as it works to expand its operational capacity in support of the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
Akram began his career at Lahore University of Management Sciences before moving into human resources leadership roles at several prominent international organisations, including Royal Bank of Scotland, Network Rail, Marks and Spencer, Calrom, Würth Group and WilsonHCG, most recently serving at Bibby Line Group. His professional background spans banking, retail, industrial supply and talent services, giving him exposure to human resources challenges across a varied set of commercial and public sector environments rather than a single industry vertical. He holds Chartered membership with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, along with a postgraduate qualification in human resources, credentials that reflect a formal grounding in the discipline alongside his extensive practical experience.
Throughout his career, Akram has designed performance frameworks and succession plans, and has worked to map career paths that connect individual employee development with broader organisational needs. This combination of strategic human resources planning and hands on talent development is expected to inform his approach at the Authority, where he will be responsible for leading talent acquisition, talent management and performance management functions. His mandate will center on attracting relevant expertise, developing internal capabilities and building the leadership pipeline needed to support the Authority’s broader institutional mandate as it continues to take shape.
Pakistan Digital Authority said Akram’s focus would extend to establishing clear performance expectations, creating meaningful development opportunities and strengthening human resources governance across the organisation, with the stated goal of building a culture in which employees can perform at their best while contributing to the country’s digital transformation efforts. The emphasis placed on combining structured HR governance with employee development reflects a broader recognition within the Authority that its ability to deliver on its technical and policy mandate depends significantly on the strength of the internal teams responsible for carrying that work forward.
The appointment adds to a growing pattern of senior leadership hires at Pakistan Digital Authority as the organisation continues building out its institutional capacity across various functional areas. As a relatively young federal body tasked with coordinating a wide range of digital governance and infrastructure initiatives, the Authority’s ability to attract experienced leadership talent, particularly in functions such as human resources that directly shape organisational culture and capability, is likely to remain a recurring theme as it continues expanding its operations and mandate in the months ahead.
