Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and National Vocational and Technical Training Commission Chairperson Gulmina Bilal Ahmad represented Pakistan at the World Digital Education Conference 2026 held in China, participating in a global platform focused on the future of digital education, artificial intelligence integration, and skills development for an increasingly technology-driven world. Following the conference, both officials addressed a press briefing in which they outlined the key strategic outcomes of the visit and the direction of the growing partnership between Pakistan and China in the fields of digital education, technical and vocational education and training, and emerging technologies.

Among the major outcomes of the visit were proposals for the establishment of artificial intelligence Innovation Hubs in Pakistan with a strong focus on information technology and artificial intelligence education, alongside discussions on expanding educational and training opportunities for Pakistani students in China, strengthening institutional linkages between Pakistani and Chinese educational bodies, and exploring Pakistan’s potential inclusion in the World Digital Education Alliance. The delegation also held productive engagements with leading Chinese institutions and stakeholders on artificial intelligence, modern education systems, smart learning environments, and future-ready skills development, all aimed at equipping Pakistani youth with the competencies needed for evolving global employment markets.

Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui highlighted that the visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to transforming its Technical and Vocational Education and Training sectors in line with international trends and technological advancements, and stated that enhanced collaboration with China would open new avenues for innovation, digital skills development, and international partnerships. National Vocational and Technical Training Commission Chairperson Gulmina Bilal Ahmad described the visit as a significant milestone in advancing Pakistan-China cooperation in skills development and technical education, with collaboration in artificial intelligence, technology transfer, curriculum modernisation, and institutional capacity building expected to play a central role in creating a modern, industry-oriented Technical and Vocational Education and Training system in Pakistan. The visit is expected to generate long-term positive impacts on Pakistan’s technical education landscape by promoting knowledge exchange, developing human resources, and building a more competitive and digitally capable workforce. The Government of Pakistan and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission reaffirmed their commitment to fostering international collaborations that support innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development through quality education and future-focused skills training.
