Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja met with Abdullah Abdulrahman A. Almubadal, Deputy Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission of Saudi Arabia, to discuss broader cooperation across digital transformation and technology driven sectors. The meeting took place as part of efforts to expand Pakistan’s international engagement with countries that have expressed interest in collaborating on next generation technologies and supporting capacity building across core ICT areas. According to officials, the discussion was centered on identifying areas where the two countries can work together to accelerate innovation, strengthen digital connectivity and explore strategic investment opportunities that support long term technological progress.

MoITT shared that the conversation included detailed exchanges on Pakistan’s ongoing work in digital infrastructure, cloud policy implementation, cybersecurity frameworks and public sector modernization initiatives. Saudi Arabia outlined its experiences in digital governance, space communication systems and national technology programs, offering insight into avenues where knowledge sharing could support mutual development. Both sides expressed interest in exploring cooperation in satellite communication, artificial intelligence, digital public services and emerging innovation domains that contribute to more resilient and connected economies. The meeting also reflected interest in building institutional channels that would allow research organizations, government bodies and private sector partners from both countries to pursue collaborative projects.

Representatives from MoITT underscored that enhanced engagement with Saudi Arabia is aligned with Pakistan’s broader approach to international collaboration within the digital sector. As Pakistan moves forward with projects that expand broadband access, introduce modern policy frameworks and improve national digital services, cooperation with technologically advanced countries provides an opportunity to draw from global expertise while positioning local industries for growth. Saudi Arabia expressed support for working with Pakistan on knowledge transfer and joint initiatives that can contribute to strengthening regional technology ecosystems. Officials noted that such cooperation has the potential to benefit both markets, especially in areas related to space technology, data exchange mechanisms and cross border digital connectivity.

The meeting further highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as both countries navigate rapidly evolving technology landscapes. MoITT stated that the interaction demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to developing high value international partnerships that contribute to national objectives under the Digital Pakistan vision. The ministry also indicated that these engagements help create an environment where investment, research activity and technical training can be expanded through structured collaboration. As discussions continue, both sides are expected to explore practical frameworks that facilitate implementation of joint programs and enable growth in sectors driven by digital innovation.
