Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, met with Mr. Song Zhenwen, Managing Director of Pak China Investment Company, in Islamabad to discuss prospects for strengthening bilateral collaboration in the technology and digital sectors. The meeting brought into focus shared priorities around expanding digital infrastructure, encouraging innovation, and exploring opportunities for investment that could accelerate Pakistan’s transformation into a digitally connected economy.

During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to building sustainable partnerships that align with the evolving needs of Pakistan’s IT sector. Emphasis was placed on creating pathways for technology-driven cooperation that could support not only infrastructure development but also innovation-led growth. By tapping into Pak China cooperation in digital domains, the two sides acknowledged the potential for enhanced connectivity, knowledge transfer, and mutually beneficial investment initiatives.

The exchange underscored the strategic importance of Pakistan’s growing IT landscape, which has seen increasing recognition as a sector capable of attracting international interest. For Pak China Investment Company, the partnership represents a gateway to expanding its role in advancing digital transformation initiatives, while for Pakistan’s IT Ministry, collaboration with Chinese partners offers an opportunity to strengthen resources and expertise in digital infrastructure and emerging technologies. Both parties highlighted the value of aligning efforts to encourage investment that supports long-term economic development and positions Pakistan as an active participant in the global digital economy.

The meeting concluded with a strong expression of intent from both sides to explore practical avenues of cooperation, including initiatives to promote innovation and digital services, improve connectivity frameworks, and expand opportunities for IT-driven growth. Such engagements reflect the broader ambition of building on the foundations of Pak China relations while channeling investments and collaborations into areas that will define the next phase of Pakistan’s digital future.
