Pakistan Air Force PAF has successfully completed the ‘Golden Eagle’ training exercise, focusing on artificial intelligence AI and the integration of indigenous technology, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations ISPR statement. Conducted in the Southern Air Command’s area of responsibility, the exercise aimed to validate the PAF’s combat readiness and operational agility by employing its full spectrum of combat capabilities under unified command and control from the Next-Generation All-Domain Command and Control Centre at Air Headquarters Islamabad.

The exercise was conducted on a two-force construct with a special focus on AI-enabled and net-centric operations, integrating disruptive and smart indigenous technologies to respond to evolving regional security challenges. Operating within a robust integrated air defence system, participants combined kinetic, cyber, space, and electromagnetic spectrum operations seamlessly. The kinetic phase featured first-shoot, first-kill swing-role combat aircraft equipped with long-range beyond visual range air-to-air missiles, extended-range stand-off weapons, and precision strike capabilities, supported by airborne early warning platforms and air-to-air refuellers.

A key highlight of ‘Golden Eagle’ was the manned-unmanned teaming initiative, where drones and loitering munitions were deployed in highly contested, congested, and degraded environments to validate the PAF’s high-tempo operational capability. The exercise demonstrated the air force’s ability to coordinate complex operations across multiple domains while leveraging AI-driven systems for enhanced decision-making and precision.

According to ISPR, the successful completion of the exercise reaffirms PAF’s commitment to maintaining a high state of operational preparedness while harnessing indigenous innovation to counter emerging and future security challenges. The integration of AI, smart technologies, and manned-unmanned systems reflects the PAF’s ongoing focus on modernising its operational capabilities and ensuring technological superiority in regional defence dynamics.
