The NUST Formula Student Team, based at the NUST Karachi Campus also known as Pakistan Navy Engineering College, has officially unveiled its 2026 hybrid racing challenger, the NAS HV-26, marking a significant moment for Pakistani engineering talent and the country’s growing presence in international student motorsport competition.

The NAS HV-26, carrying competition number 268, was unveiled at a ceremony attended by automotive enthusiasts, industry veterans, and university leadership, all gathered to witness a vehicle that represents the culmination of months of design, testing, and manufacturing work carried out entirely by undergraduate students. What makes the achievement particularly notable is that the car has been conceived, engineered, and built from the ground up within Pakistan, without reliance on imported assemblies or external manufacturing support, demonstrating a level of in-house technical capability that places the NUST Formula Student Team among the more self-sufficient student engineering programmes in the region.

The NAS HV-26 incorporates advanced electric-hybrid technology, reflecting the team’s deliberate move toward sustainable propulsion systems at a time when the global motorsport community and the broader automotive industry are both transitioning toward electrification. For a student team operating in Pakistan, where access to specialist motorsport components and testing facilities is considerably more limited than in European or North American university environments, the successful development of a functional hybrid racing platform represents a meaningful engineering accomplishment. The vehicle will represent Pakistan at the Formula Student international competition in Turkey in September 2026, where it will compete against student teams from universities across the world in events that test not only raw vehicle performance but also design engineering, cost analysis, and business case presentation, giving the NUST Formula Student Team an opportunity to demonstrate the full breadth of its capabilities on a global platform.
