Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing sector has reached a new milestone as Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML) begins deliveries of the locally assembled NEVO Hunter, a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) 4×4 pickup truck. The company held a line-off ceremony at its Karachi facility on October 27, marking the transition from equipment installation to production and customer deliveries. According to the company, it established a dedicated body-on-frame REEV assembly line and moved into production in less than 90 days. The Hunter is the first vehicle introduced under Changan’s NEVO brand in Pakistan and brings range-extended electric technology into the local pickup segment. Its local assembly also marks an expansion of the company’s manufacturing activity beyond conventional petrol-powered vehicles.
The NEVO Hunter uses a dual-motor powertrain, with electric motors driving the front and rear wheels to provide four-wheel-drive capability. The system produces a combined output of 322 horsepower and 529 Nm of torque, with a claimed acceleration time of 7.9 seconds from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour. Its REEV configuration uses a petrol engine as a range extender to generate electricity, allowing the vehicle to continue operating beyond the battery’s available charge. The pickup is equipped with a 31.18 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, which supports DC fast charging from 30 to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes. The company lists a pure electric driving range of 131 kilometres and a combined range of 700 to 900 kilometres, depending on driving and operating conditions.
The vehicle is built on a body-on-frame ladder chassis and offers a payload capacity of 1,010 kilograms and towing capacity of 2.5 tonnes. Its features include multi-link independent rear suspension, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist and hill-descent control. The Hunter also includes a 3.3 kW Vehicle-to-Load system, allowing it to supply electricity to compatible appliances and equipment through its onboard power outlets. Inside the cabin, the pickup features panoramic dual screens, ventilated seats and additional technology and safety equipment. MCML has introduced the vehicle at an introductory price of Rs10,990,000. The company has reported that bookings are filled until February 2027, while customer deliveries have now begun through its nationwide sales and aftersales network.
The introduction of the locally assembled NEVO Hunter reflects the gradual expansion of electrified vehicle options in Pakistan’s automotive market. Its REEV configuration offers an alternative to conventional petrol-powered pickups and fully battery-electric vehicles, particularly for users who require four-wheel-drive capability and longer-distance travel. Local production also gives MCML an opportunity to develop its manufacturing capacity for new-energy vehicles and establish dedicated service support for the technology. However, the longer-term impact will depend on production volumes, the level of local parts sourcing, vehicle affordability and the availability of aftersales support. With deliveries now underway, the Hunter marks Changan’s first NEVO product in Pakistan and introduces a new electrified option in the country’s pickup market.
