The NED University Journal of Research has announced the introduction of a Hybrid Open Access publishing option, giving authors greater flexibility in how their work is disseminated to the global research community. Under the new model, contributors may choose to make their published work freely accessible online, broadening its reach beyond institutional subscribers and increasing the potential for readership, citations, and international engagement. The option is being offered alongside the journal’s traditional publishing route, allowing authors to select whichever mode best aligns with their research dissemination goals and funding requirements.

The move toward Hybrid Open Access reflects a broader shift taking place across academic publishing globally, where funders, universities, and researchers are increasingly prioritising open access as a means of accelerating knowledge transfer and maximising the societal impact of publicly funded research. For authors publishing in the NED University Journal of Research, the new option provides a practical pathway to comply with open access mandates that are becoming standard requirements at many international funding bodies and research institutions, without requiring the journal to abandon its existing subscription-based model entirely.

The journal has affirmed that the introduction of Hybrid Open Access will not compromise its commitment to rigorous peer review, high editorial standards, and broad disciplinary coverage across engineering, technology, and allied scientific fields. NED University of Engineering and Technology remains one of Pakistan’s most established technical institutions, and its journal serves as an important platform for original research across engineering disciplines at both the national and regional levels. Further details on the Hybrid Open Access option, including author guidelines and associated fees, are available on the journal’s official page at www.neduet.edu.pk/NED-Journal.
