Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim assumes the role of Member Telecom in the Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan, appointed by the federal government for a three-year term. With a wealth of experience in the IT and Telecom sector, Rahim’s appointment signifies a significant step forward in Pakistan’s technological landscape.
Bringing extensive expertise to his new position, Rahim previously served as Director General Telecom (Wireless) within the ministry, showcasing his deep understanding of its operations. Additionally, he serves as the focal person for the Telecom sector in the Prime Minister’s ‘Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC)’ for economic revival, highlighting his pivotal role in driving industry growth.
Rahim’s career trajectory includes notable positions such as Director Audit at Cloud Office and Deputy Director for Enterprise Solutions & Support at Zong 4G. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Ufone 4G and Ufone Microfinance Bank, further solidifying his credentials in the field.
The appointment of Member Telecom comes after a five-month vacancy in the position, following the completion of Omar Malik’s tenure. Initiated by the Ministry of IT and Telecom in November 2023, the appointment process underwent rigorous selection, culminating in Rahim’s selection and subsequent approval by the federal government.
