MoFEPT and PTCL Collaborate to Provide Educational OTT Channels for Students Nationwide

At a ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) inked a contract for the supply of 04 educational OTT channels to provide instructional content to students throughout the nation.

The channels will increase access to high-quality educational materials to promote learning and development among students of all age groups.

Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of Federal Education & Professional Training, attended as the event’s chief guest. Aamir Ashraf Khawaja, federal secretary of MOFEPT, and Mohsin Mushtaq, federal secretary of IT, were also present.

Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, additional secretary for MOFEPT, and Zarrar Hasham Khan, group chief business solutions officer for PTCL and Ufone, signed the contract.

According to the deal, PTCL would give the MoFEPT access to 04 channels on its OTT Smart TV platform so that students across the nation may stream and download educational content.

The digital channels will be accessible everywhere for free. The project will assist MoFEPT in moving closer to digitalizing the educational system for increased effectiveness and enhanced learning.

“The arrangement with PTCL is an essential step toward the digitization of Pakistan’s educational system based on the newest learning and tutoring methodologies,” Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training spokesperson Rana Tanveer Hussain stated during the event.

“We think the moment is right for such initiatives because cellphones are widely used countrywide and fast internet is available even in distant areas. We are happy to have PTCL as a collaborative partner since they share our aim for this innovative project to enhance learning in society. We will investigate the possibilities for expanding the breadth and reach of this effort for a lasting and deeper effect since digitalization is the future,” he continued.

The 04 OTT educational channels would be fully free of charge so that students from all socioeconomic backgrounds may access the educational content without the need for a subscription, said Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, Additional Secretary MoFEPT, in a speech at the event.

“This action will have a big impact on the nation’s soc “This action will have a big impact on the nation’s socioeconomic progress. Additionally, the project advances MOFEPT’s ongoing efforts to promote social good for Pakistani citizens”, he continued.

Zarrar Hasham Khan, Group Chief Business Solutions Officer, PTCL & Ufone, commented on the agreement, stating that

“PTCL is the largest ICT services provider with footprint across Pakistan and being a company playing a pivotal role in driving digital transformation revolution in the country, needs partners to boost education sector.”

The educational system in Pakistan would be revolutionized as a result, and all geographical areas will be provided with cutting-edge learning tools, he continued. economic progress. Additionally, the project advances MOFEPT’s ongoing efforts to promote social good for Pakistani citizens, he continued.
