Mercantile has introduced Apple’s iPhone Duo in Pakistan on the device’s global launch day, giving local consumers access to the company’s first foldable smartphone through official distribution channels. The launch brings Apple’s new foldable device to Pakistan with PTA approval and a one-year official Apple warranty. According to available launch information, the phone starts at Rs. 899,999 for the 256GB variant, placing it in the premium segment of the local smartphone market. The launch also provides consumers with an official purchasing option without relying on overseas purchases or informal import channels. Mercantile, Apple’s authorised distributor in Pakistan, says Apple products sold through its distribution network carry an official 12-month warranty. The local availability of the iPhone Duo is significant for consumers interested in trying Apple’s foldable design while purchasing a device intended for the Pakistani market.

The iPhone Duo combines a compact external display with a larger screen that unfolds to provide additional space for everyday smartphone activities. The device features a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display, allowing users to switch between a conventional phone layout and a larger viewing area. The expanded screen can be useful for watching videos, reading, gaming and managing multiple tasks, although the overall experience will also depend on software support and app optimisation. Apple has equipped the phone with its A20 Pro chip and C2 modem, while the camera system includes two 48-megapixel cameras, comprising main and ultrawide options. The handset also features Touch ID and an under-display camera, according to published specifications. Its foldable construction measures approximately 5.2 millimetres when open and 11.3 millimetres when folded, with an aluminium hinge designed to support the folding mechanism. The design reflects the wider smartphone industry’s efforts to combine larger displays with devices that remain portable when closed.

In Pakistan, the iPhone Duo is listed in four storage configurations, with prices increasing according to capacity. The 256GB model is priced at Rs. 899,999, while the 512GB version costs Rs. 980,000. Consumers seeking additional storage can consider the 1TB variant, priced at Rs. 1,145,000, or the 2TB model, which reaches Rs. 1,390,000. These prices position the device above most conventional smartphones and make storage requirements an important consideration for prospective buyers. The phone is listed as duty-paid and PTA-approved, an important distinction for customers who want a device suitable for use on Pakistan’s mobile networks without having to arrange separate approval. The one-year official Apple warranty also gives buyers a defined period of manufacturer-backed coverage. Consumers should confirm the final price, stock availability, warranty conditions and any retailer-specific terms with an authorised seller before making a purchase.

Mercantile’s launch adds a foldable model to the range of officially distributed Apple devices available in Pakistan and gives the company another opportunity to serve customers seeking newer smartphone designs. Foldable phones offer a larger display in a device that can fold for easier portability, but their high prices mean that durability, repair options, battery performance and long-term software support remain important considerations for buyers. For the iPhone Duo, the larger internal screen and updated hardware will be central to its appeal, particularly for users who consume media or frequently work across apps on their phones. However, consumers should assess whether these features justify the substantial price difference compared with conventional flagship smartphones. The availability of official warranty coverage and PTA approval may also influence purchasing decisions, especially for buyers who prioritise authorised distribution and after-sales support. With its Pakistan launch aligned with the global release, the iPhone Duo enters the local market as a premium option for customers interested in Apple’s move into foldable smartphone technology.
