Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum has ordered the cancellation of a planned Rs1 billion purchase of new video conferencing equipment for Punjab’s district courts. The decision comes amid the country’s economic challenges.

The court deemed the existing IT infrastructure, including laptops and Wi-Fi, sufficient for continuing video conferencing operations. This move aims to curb unnecessary expenses without compromising the ongoing use of this technology for recording evidence and other legal proceedings.

Chief Justice Neelum, who heads the court’s IT wing, had previously developed and implemented standard operating procedures for video conferencing across Punjab.
