Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board Managing Director Akif Khan led a training session titled The Use of IT for Effective Policy, Monitoring, and Service Delivery for participants of the 40th Senior Management Course at the National Institute of Management in Peshawar. The session formed part of the institute’s broader training curriculum for senior public sector officials, focusing specifically on the role of technology in government administration.

The session covered key topics including e-governance, digital transformation, data driven governance, the next generation of government, and technology governance. Participants were given practical insight into real time e-governance projects already operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with discussion of the challenges typically encountered during their implementation and the strategic roadmaps guiding the province’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.

Akif Khan has been closely associated with several of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s flagship digital governance initiatives, including the Pakistan Citizen Portal, Dastak, Paymir, Khyber Pass, OpenGov, and more than 150 other government technology projects developed under his tenure at the Information Technology Board. His direct involvement in building these systems gave the session’s participants access to firsthand experience from someone who has overseen the practical rollout of e-governance infrastructure at scale.

The training session adds to a series of capacity building engagements aimed at equipping senior government officials with the knowledge needed to effectively use technology in policy formulation, monitoring, and public service delivery. By bringing officials attending the National Institute of Management’s Senior Management Course into direct contact with real world e-governance implementation experience, the session reflects a broader effort to build technology literacy among Pakistan’s senior bureaucracy as digital transformation initiatives continue to expand across federal and provincial government institutions.
