The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Tourism has introduced a new digital system to streamline travel procedures for international visitors, launching an online No Objection Certificate (NOC) portal designed to facilitate secure and efficient registration. This initiative marks a step toward modernizing the province’s tourism infrastructure while enhancing the safety and convenience of foreign travelers.
Dr. Abdul Samad, Secretary of the KP Department of Tourism, Culture, Archaeology, and Museums, announced the system during a recent meeting. He stated that the KP Tourism and Culture Authority has developed the online platform to simplify the process for international tourists holding valid visit visas. The portal allows users to register online for NOCs, which are mandatory for foreigners planning to visit specific locations across the province.
The newly implemented system aims to remove bureaucratic hurdles previously faced by international tourists, who had to rely on manual registration methods involving coordination with multiple departments. By offering a centralized and digital solution, the province intends to not only improve the visitor experience but also ensure regulatory compliance and better monitoring of tourist movement for safety purposes.
Dr. Samad emphasized that the initiative would enhance the overall travel experience by enabling tourists to explore Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s rich cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and archaeological treasures with fewer administrative delays. The department has also focused on ensuring that the platform is user-friendly, secure, and responsive to the needs of international travelers.
In addition to general tourists, the department has plans to expand the service to include foreign mountaineers and trekkers visiting the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These visitors typically require special permissions to access high-altitude and border-adjacent areas. The planned expansion will allow climbers and adventure seekers to apply for their respective NOCs online, ensuring better preparedness and improved tracking for safety management.
The launch of the portal reflects broader efforts by provincial authorities to digitize public-facing services and support tourism as a strategic sector for economic development. The digital NOC system is aligned with federal and provincial goals of promoting smart governance and offering technology-enabled solutions to improve service delivery. It also complements other ongoing efforts to boost the tourism sector, which has seen growing interest from both domestic and foreign travelers in recent years.
Authorities believe that the system will also help gather data to improve planning, infrastructure development, and resource allocation in popular tourist areas. This includes identifying trends in visitor preferences, optimizing hospitality services, and ensuring the preservation of environmentally sensitive zones.
By creating a more streamlined process for foreign tourists, the KP government is working to improve transparency, reduce the burden on public offices, and create a safer and more accessible environment for global travelers. The initiative is expected to encourage more international visits to the province, contributing to the local economy and strengthening the region’s image as a welcoming and well-managed travel destination.
