A group of final-year pharmacy students at the University of Karachi has developed a revolutionary breakthrough in respiratory therapy: the world’s smallest rechargeable nebuliser.
This compact device, measuring less than an inch in width, offers up to 35 minutes of continuous operation on a single charge. Its eco-friendly design, utilizing bioplastics, makes it a sustainable and convenient solution for patients with respiratory ailments.
The team behind this innovation, including Abdul Rahman Siddiqui, Taha Ishaq, Syed Waliuddin, Syeda Arshiya, Zohaib Salman, Maham Zaidi, Priyan Khan, and Tuba Saleem, aims to address the limitations of traditional nebulisers, which are often bulky, noisy, and expensive. The new device is not only more portable but also significantly more affordable, priced at less than Rs 2,000.
This groundbreaking invention has the potential to improve the quality of life for countless individuals, particularly children and the elderly, who rely on respiratory therapy. By making this essential healthcare device more accessible and user-friendly, the students are contributing to the advancement of healthcare in Pakistan.
