Kamingo E-Bike Conversion Kit Turns Any Bicycle Into A 750W Electric Bike In Just 10 Seconds

A startup called Kamingo has developed a lightweight electric bike conversion kit that promises to transform virtually any standard bicycle into a 750-watt electric bike in under ten seconds, without the need for any tools, wiring, or permanent modifications to the bike. Created by former Huawei and BYD engineers and founded by Julian Lee, the system is designed to give cyclists the performance benefits of a dedicated electric bike while allowing them to keep the bicycle they already own. The Kickstarter campaign launched on June 11, 2025, and met its funding target within ten minutes, eventually raising over £880,000, roughly $1.2 million, signalling strong market demand for an affordable and non-invasive path to electric cycling.

Weighing just 2.3 kilograms in total, the Kamingo system consists of three smart components that work together seamlessly. A handlebar controller manages everything from power delivery to battery monitoring, a sleek 266Wh electric vehicle-grade battery pack slides into a standard water bottle cage and looks as though it belongs there from the factory, and a compact rear motor weighing 0.9 kilograms attaches to the seat stay using a quick-lock mechanism that is both secure and instantly removable. Once these pieces are in place, the entire system can be up and running in no more than ten seconds. The battery drops in, the controller follows, the rear motor clips on and applies pressure to the wheel, and the rider is ready to go. The installation process requires no specialist knowledge, making it accessible to everyday cyclists rather than just technically minded enthusiasts.

The kit delivers cruise speeds of up to 20 miles per hour and a range of up to 55 miles, with three selectable modes including Cruise, Assist, and Standby, which can be chosen based on terrain or energy level. It incorporates regenerative braking, a tilt safety cutoff, Bluetooth locking, and weatherproof durability rated at IP66. The motor is a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor mounted on the seat stay, where friction between the motor and the tyre generates power, delivering up to 40 Newton metres of torque. Pressure-Adaptive Technology automatically adjusts the contact pressure between the tyre and the motor to ensure smooth and consistent power output. The battery supports magnetic fast charging and reaches full capacity in three hours. It is worth noting that the kit is compatible with most bikes using slick or semi-slick tyres but is not suitable for mountain bikes with deep tread tyres, which limits its application to road, commuter, and hybrid bicycle styles.

When the motor is not needed, it detaches in seconds and fits easily into a backpack, returning the bicycle to its original form without any trace of modification. The battery, shaped to mimic a standard water bottle, sits discreetly in the cage and draws no attention, preserving the clean aesthetic of the original bike. At a retail price of $589, with early bird pricing available at $349, Kamingo positions itself as a considerably more affordable entry point into electric cycling compared to purchasing a purpose-built electric bike, which can cost several times more. Shipping was expected to begin in December 2025, and the product has since moved to direct retail through the Kamingo website, where interested buyers can explore the kit and place orders.
