JazzCash, in collaboration with Mobilink Bank, has completed the disbursement of the first tranche of financial assistance under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Fuel Package 2026, marking one of the largest digital relief efforts carried out in the country. The initiative is part of the government’s broader push towards a cashless economy, enabling transparent and efficient delivery of funds directly into beneficiaries’ mobile wallets. Through its extensive digital infrastructure, JazzCash facilitated real time transfers to verified recipients across Pakistan, ensuring that financial aid reached eligible individuals without delays or intermediaries.
As a key partner in the Prime Minister’s Cashless Economy Initiative, JazzCash leveraged its nationwide reach to distribute funds to a wide range of transport sector beneficiaries, including operators of buses, trucks, long haul vehicles and delivery vans. The next phase of the programme is expected to expand coverage further by including motorcycle owners, increasing the scale of outreach and impact. The use of digital wallets for disbursement reflects a growing reliance on technology driven financial solutions, aimed at improving transparency while reducing leakages often associated with traditional distribution methods. The initiative also demonstrates how public sector programmes are increasingly integrating fintech platforms to streamline welfare delivery mechanisms.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja highlighted the importance of digital finance as a foundational element of modern economic infrastructure, noting that platforms like JazzCash are playing a central role in enabling inclusive access to financial services. Officials involved in the programme emphasised that digital disbursement not only accelerates the delivery of relief but also strengthens accountability by ensuring that funds are transferred directly to verified recipients. This model aligns with broader national goals of promoting financial inclusion and encouraging adoption of digital payment systems across different segments of society.
According to JazzCash leadership, the platform’s operational scale and experience in executing large scale government programmes have been instrumental in the successful rollout of the initiative. With a network of over one million Raast QR merchants and agents nationwide, the platform has established itself as a critical component of Pakistan’s digital payments ecosystem. To support beneficiaries, JazzCash has also activated a dedicated helpline for individuals who have received official confirmation and require assistance with account setup or wallet activation. As the programme progresses into its next phases, the continued integration of digital financial services is expected to enhance the effectiveness of public welfare initiatives while reinforcing the transition towards a more transparent and technology driven economy.
