Jazz, Pakistan’s leading connectivity provider from JazzWorld, has reached a major milestone in its ongoing network modernization program with the successful deployment of the country’s first 1.2 terabits per second per wavelength capacity on its optical transport network. The deployment was completed in collaboration with its strategic technology partner Huawei and represents a significant enhancement to the national telecom infrastructure. The achievement reflects Jazz’s continued focus on strengthening high capacity, resilient, and future ready networks to support increasing data demands and the evolving needs of both enterprise and consumer segments across Pakistan.

The 1.2 Tbps per wavelength implementation significantly upgrades Jazz’s core and aggregation network layers, allowing the network to scale efficiently as data consumption continues to grow. With rising demand driven by cloud services, digital platforms, enterprise connectivity, and the gradual evolution toward 5G technologies, the enhanced optical transport capacity provides the foundation required to handle hyperscale traffic volumes without compromising performance or reliability. Jazz stated that the deployment is designed to ensure seamless network expansion while maintaining consistent service quality across its footprint, supporting next generation digital services and advanced connectivity use cases nationwide.

In another industry first achievement, Jazz has also completed Pakistan’s first ever deployment of 100 Gbps on a Fiber to the Site ring. This implementation highlights the operator’s leadership in advancing optical access networks and strengthening last mile fiber infrastructure. The 100 Gbps FTTS ring significantly improves performance, capacity, and resilience for enterprise services, mobile backhaul, and emerging digital applications that require ultra high speed and low latency connectivity. By enhancing access network capabilities alongside core transport upgrades, Jazz is reinforcing end to end network strength to meet current and future traffic requirements.

Commenting on the development, Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer of JazzWorld, said that the deployment of Pakistan’s first 1.2 Tbps per wavelength on the optical network, along with the first 100 Gbps deployment on an FTTS ring, represents two major technological milestones for Jazz. He noted that these advancements demonstrate the strength and scalability of Jazz’s network architecture, enabling the company to efficiently support future technologies, rapidly growing traffic volumes, and demanding enterprise use cases while maintaining high standards of reliability and performance. According to him, the upgrades position Jazz to respond effectively to the increasing complexity of digital services and connectivity requirements.

Jazz stated that these milestones reflect its long term commitment to building a world class digital infrastructure for Pakistan. By continuously strengthening its network through the adoption of advanced optical and transport technologies, the company aims to enable innovation, support digital inclusion, and meet the country’s expanding connectivity needs. The upgrades also reinforce Jazz’s role in supporting national digital transformation efforts by ensuring that the underlying telecom infrastructure remains robust, scalable, and capable of supporting new services and applications.

The latest deployments further reaffirm Jazz’s leadership in network modernization within Pakistan’s telecom sector. Through ongoing investment in cutting edge infrastructure and close collaboration with global technology partners such as Huawei, Jazz continues to enhance network capacity and resilience. These developments position the operator to support sustained growth in data usage and deliver reliable, high speed connectivity experiences to businesses and consumers across the country.
