The Higher Education Commission (HEC), through its National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), has announced a three-day training programme focused on the practical application of artificial intelligence in university administration. The programme is designed for university management and administrative officials and will take place from October 7 to 9, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at NAHE, HEC, Islamabad.
Titled “Applied Artificial Intelligence for University Administration,” the programme is intended for officials working in university management and administration rather than faculty members. The training is open to officials in BPS-17, BPS-18 and BPS-19 positions. HEC has invited universities to nominate suitable administrative officials, including Assistant or Deputy Registrars, Controllers, Treasurers and officials working in similar administrative roles. The programme is focused on practical applications of AI within university administration, indicating an emphasis on how artificial intelligence can be used in administrative work and institutional processes.
According to the announcement, each university can submit a maximum of five nominations, with the top two nominations being given preference if the number of available places is limited. Universities are required to submit their nominations by October 5, 2026, at 12:00 noon. The nomination process is being facilitated through an online link provided by HEC, while the announcement also includes a QR code for accessing the nomination process. The programme is specifically aimed at university management and administrative officials, and faculty members are not included in the target participant group.
The October programme will be held at NAHE in Islamabad, while HEC has also indicated that subsequent training sessions will be conducted through its regional centres in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta. The announcement does not provide details about the number of participants, specific AI tools to be covered, training materials, or the schedule of individual sessions. The initiative places practical artificial intelligence applications within university administration as the central focus of the training, giving participating officials an opportunity to explore the use of AI in their administrative roles.
