The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is set to meet today, May 2, 2025, at the Prime Minister’s Office to discuss critical updates and improvements to the PakTok mobile application, a key platform for serving overseas Pakistanis. The meeting will also provide a comprehensive review of the ongoing Phase II of the Pak-Emigrant Management Framework (PEMF), a government initiative aimed at enhancing services for the millions of Pakistanis living abroad.

The primary goal of today’s meeting is to streamline digital services and integrate various stakeholders in the effort to improve the convenience and accessibility of government services for expatriates. SIFC’s discussion will focus on finalizing the technical specifications of the PakTok app, including amendments to its design and functionality to address the needs of Pakistan’s overseas diaspora.

PakTok, developed under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD), is designed to serve as a comprehensive digital gateway for overseas Pakistanis. It offers a range of features that aim to make access to government services smoother and more efficient, providing a single platform for a variety of services that were once scattered across different channels.

Among the key services offered by PakTok are OPF membership registration, welfare services such as the recovery of dues from foreign employers, and the transportation of deceased bodies from abroad to their home addresses in Pakistan. The app also provides financial assistance options, including scholarships for children of overseas Pakistanis who wish to attend OPF schools and colleges.

The app’s functionality extends beyond these services, incorporating a robust 24/7 complaint management system. This system allows Pakistani expatriates and their families to easily report issues and seek resolutions, enhancing the transparency and accessibility of governmental initiatives that directly impact their lives.

In addition to its service offerings, the app provides overseas Pakistanis with up-to-date information on OPF events, policies, and initiatives, ensuring that users are always in the loop regarding the latest updates and developments that concern them.

SIFC’s meeting will also focus on the technical aspects of the app’s continued improvement, with input from the National Information Technology Board (NITB), Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BE&OE), and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). These agencies will present technical documentation related to the integration of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which will further enhance the functionality and efficiency of the PakTok app.

Moreover, the meeting will address feedback from the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) regarding the app’s design and usability, ensuring that any key observations are incorporated into the final iteration of the app. This will help streamline the user experience and ensure that the app meets the needs of Pakistan’s overseas diaspora effectively.

The continued development of the PakTok app aligns with the government’s broader efforts to digitally transform its services and improve the experience for citizens living abroad. With today’s meeting, Pakistan is one step closer to creating a fully integrated and efficient digital framework for its overseas community, solidifying the role of technology in providing essential government services.
