While speaking at the Huawei Mobile Pakistan Summit, the Minister for Information Technology, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui revealed that a cybersecurity policy has been finalized.
According to the IT minister said the government will establish an authority under the cybersecurity policy. He also emphasized that mobile phones are to become an important tool for banking and education. He also announced that the government will earmark a piece of land in Haripur, Hazara for telecom companies to establish mobile manufacturing plants.

The government is also to establish multiple mobile manufacturing plants in the region along with Huawei, he added,
“Land has been identified near Haripur for establishing such plants.”
In order to digitize Pakistan, the minister said that they will need 0.2 million graduates with expertise in modern technology in the coming years.
Furthermore, speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the government is planning to set up a Media Technology University to empower the media with innovative skills. He also spoke about how IT has contributed a lot in socio-economic development but it has reduced job opportunities and the highlighted the pressing issue to save these jobs.

Huawei Vice President Middle East Sunxiaofeng speaking on the occasion said that 5G is coming this year and would alter the society. He also emphasized that Huawei is committed to providing a secure network and cooperating with the regulator. Till date, Huawei has created 25,000 jobs in Pakistan according to him.
