Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch the Covid-19 telehealth portal in Islamabad today to ensure effective contact between doctors and coronavirus patients during the Covid-19 pandemic, ARY News reported.

Telehealth is the use of digital information and communication technologies, such as computers and mobile devices, to access health care services remotely and manage your health care. These may be technologies you use from home or that your doctor uses to improve or support health care services. This is done in an effort to make health care accessible to people who live in rural or isolated communities and provide quality access to medical specialists. With the ongoing spread of Coronavirus, Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the launch of a Covid-19 telehealth portal.

The main goal of setting up the Covid-19 Telehealth portal is to ensure the safety of citizens currently at the comfort of their homes. This will also help to keep patients safe from unnecessary meetings when they plan to visit the doctor. The doctors currently registered in the portal can voluntarily recommend diagnosis as well as treatment to the patients free of cost. The patients are also welcome to ask as many questions as one can regarding Covid-19. These citizens can also remain in contact with doctors by telephone. This is the second major initiative launched by PM Imran Khan, in which the first initiative was Yaran-e-Watan which enabled overseas Pakistani health professionals to support the country amidst this pandemic.

PM Imran Khan recently stated in a tweet that the Pakistani health professionals are on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19. The government is working hard to combat COVID19 in Pakistan. He stated: “We have launched YaranWatan initiative for our overseas health professionals who can now register to volunteer their services”. It is important to highlight that the Telehealth Portal is work that has been launched by the Government of Pakistan in collaboration with the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, and various other renowned Pakistani diaspora health organisations.
