GeniGods: Nezha is a new single-player action RPG that draws inspiration from Chinese mythology, developed by GeniGods Lab, the studio behind My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero. Following the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong and the anticipation for Phantom Blade: Zero, the game aims to deliver a ‘Chinese God of War’ experience. The game is tentatively scheduled for release in 2027 or 2028 on PC and PlayStation 5 and features a narrative-driven adventure centered on Nezha, a legendary figure from Chinese creation myths.

The story introduces players to Nezha, created by the God of Creation, Nüwa, from clay and water. Nezha, known as the Spirit Pearl, is tasked with preventing the resurrection of Pangu, the primordial being whose return threatens the world. Players traverse Pangu’s massive body, exploring its arms, neck, and torso, which have been designed as intricate multi-level environments. Nezha is joined by other mythical heroes, including Yi and Yu the Great, and the gameplay combines exploration, puzzle solving, and combat with narrative depth. The game’s linear main story is complemented by hub worlds and side quests, offering multiple ways to progress and achieve one of three distinct endings based on player choices.

Combat in GeniGods: Nezha is designed to be dynamic and strategic, combining aerial and ground-based fighting. The system incorporates martial arts, swords, and lances, with bosses featuring advanced AI that adapts to player tactics. Relics obtained throughout the game allow Nezha to gain superpowers and unlock new combat forms. The Fluid Mystics mechanic draws from Bruce Lee’s philosophy of water, letting players adapt attacks with timing and precision. Environmental interactions, destructible objects, and day-night cycles further enhance the immersive experience, while Unreal Engine 5.7 ensures high-fidelity visuals and performance optimization.

The development team, consisting of over seventy experienced developers, has emphasized a balance between visual spectacle and gameplay clarity. Motion capture, Epic’s Metahuman technology, and advanced 3C systems (Camera, Character, Control) contribute to realistic character animations and fluid movement across colossal environments. Features such as hardware ray tracing, SSD optimization, NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and PlayStation 5 DualSense integration are also supported. The game’s estimated main story length is twenty-four hours, with completionist playthroughs extending up to seventy-five hours. GeniGods: Nezha aims to offer a rich and immersive journey for players seeking a challenging and mythologically grounded action RPG experience.
